Thank You Notes--A thing of the past???

I'm not sure if its all this technology, or people just seem to be to busy, but it seems like a Thank You note has become a thing of the past.

Remember when you would receive a gift, or someone did something nice for you, or you got invited over to dinner, or even invite a mom and their kids over for a play date, you would pop a little Thank You card in the mail?
What happened to those days?
Is sending a text, or email or mentioning a kind act or gift in a status or tweet the same thing as a Thank You note?
Does it take away from their thanks?

On the other hand, has it really become that difficult to actually send a letter in the mail?
Are we really that busy that we can not take a few minutes to put a letter in the mail box?

I know I am guilty of occasionally sending off a quick e-mail or phone call to Thank someone. But it usually leaves a bad taste in my mouth. You know?
Someone went through some effort to get me a gift, or do something nice for me and/or my family, is a phone call or e-mail really enough Thanks?

Wouldn't it be nice to send a Thank You card when someone does something nice for you? From buying a gift to the simple act of being a friend and being there during a hard time?

So this year, I have decided to bring back the Thank You cards!
(Besides how much fun is it to actually get real mail?)
2013 will from now on be known as "The Year Of The Thank You Cards!"

And really, how much fun is getting real mail delivered to your house?!

  2. I always have the best intentions to send off thank you cards and it rarely happens, so now I do just send off a nice email.

To me - a thank you email is just as touching as a card - it is the new "thing" - but I totally hear ya - it is always nice to get mail!

And I've really enjoyed sending off Thank you cards, even sent off a few surprise Thank you cards. Always nice to hear how surprised and happy people are to get the cards.
